Collectively celebrating world music
Gayance is a creole word for joyfulness. Since Aïsha Vertus is always unapologetic, it was the perfect name for her musical project that would also celebrate her Haitian roots. Born and raised in Montreal, she's a traveler. Gayance found her artistic family in Brussels in 2012 and moved there in 2017. She discovered her musical family in Sao Paulo and Salvador, Bahia in 2014 where she goes every year since. She's been tearing down venues in Paris, Amsterdam, Brooklyn, Marrakech, Berlin and more. Since she's been doing the back & forth between the two continents.
Gayance started as a DJ in 2013 just to make her first love a mixtape. Then, her eclectic musical taste was quickly picked up by many radio selekta and respected DJs. She made her debut at n10as, The Lot Radio, Kiosk Radio, Rinse FM France and Radio-Canada. Gayance collects a large variation of music on vinyls from Afro-Latin Jazz, North American Black music, Caribbean vintage sounds, West-African and North African music.
For her latest single ''Sirens'' featuring Canada's very own KALLITECHNIS came out on the British label Beautiful Music, the new label project by DJ Sherelle.
