The Angolan star of kuduro music
The voice of Engracia Domingos da Silva – but please call her Pongo - has been travelling the world for many years, thanks to her vocals on Buraka Som Sistema’s smash hit Kalemba (Wegue Wegue). She co-wrote the song and is, in our opinion, still the best front woman the Portuguese combo ever had. Since she’s flying solo, the Angolan kuduro star has kept doing what she does best: sampling percussion rhythms as a DJ, singing and writing songs with a powerful message, and wrapping it all up in an irresistible dance package. Her latest single Tambulaya is an invitation to the dance floor, which just can’t be refused.
